After great anticipation, Apple has announced its brand new flagship device for its iPhone line-up; the iPhone 7. The new iPhone 7 resembles its predecessor the iPhone 6, but make no mistake – its simplistic design packs tons of performance updates. Here are 10 new features of the iPhone 7 in the order presented at Apple’s Keynote.
Design – A new jet black high-gloss finish, in a single unibody enclosure.
Home Button – The new Home Button is a solid-state, force sensitive taptic engine enabled touch sensor, with the ability for custom feedback programming.
Water-Resistant – The new iPhone 7 is completely water and dust resistant. (IP-67 Protection Standard)
Camera – This is a major update and overhaul. All iPhone models include advanced optical image stabilization, f/1.8 aperture, six element lens system, 12MP sensor (60% faster; 30% more efficient), Quad-LED true-tone flash (50% more light), Apple designed image signal processor (ISP) with twice the throughput, 7MP FaceTime HD Camera, Wide-Color Capture. The iPhone 7 Plus adds an additional camera for a total of two 12MP camera’s, one wide-angle 20MM lens, and one telephoto 56MM lens which supports DSLR functionality such as zoom at 2x-10x retaining image quality and portrait background blur.
Retina HD Display – resolutions stays the same, 25% brighter display, displays wide color gamut, added Instagram functionality.
Speakers – all models include built-in stereo speakers with 2x volume, the 3.5MM audio-jack removed.
EarPods – EarPods connected via lightning port, a 3.5MM to lightning port adapter will be included for analog devices.
Wireless – Apples all new AirPods, wireless earphones available late October.
Apple Pay – Apple Pay will be available in Japan in October, and transit with Maps.
Performance – A new Apple A10 Fusion Quad-Core 64-Bit processor, two high-performance cores (40% faster than the previous A9 processor in iPhone 6 series) and two high-efficiency cores (1/5 power consumption) with Apple custom-built performance controller to delegate tasks. Graphics performance at 50% faster speeds than the previous models’ processor.
